The Dumbing Down of America; How Did It Happen?

Jesse Ventura mentioned it the other day, and many others are asking the same question...how did America get so dumbed down?

We've gotten to a point that a certain segment of our population consider Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Glenn Beck as leaders of societal change. There was a Cassandra crying out several years ago about what was happening to our country, a whistle blower that we refused to listen to.

The year was 2006.

The man was Mike Judge.

The film was Idiocracy.

The man who gave us King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead knows of what he speaks.

Here's the first few minutes of the movie, starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph.

Do you need further proof?

The video (from SPIKE TV) has a T&A ad from CAPTAIN MORGAN, so that art imitates life....just don't pour the stuff on your new spring garden.

I'm seeing playlist errors, so I can't watch the movie, but perhaps it would help id less than 75% of our high school grads were functionally illiterate.

TC....I checked the clips, and I didn't see any playlist errors; maybe it's something on your end?

It is a satire, but it does illustrate one thing; stupid parents usually have even stupider children. And than worst part of it is that the stupider a person is, the more they are in denial that they are stupid (think of Fredo in the GODFATHER movies).

The bottom line....and Hillary haters are going cringe...it really does take a village to raise kids- but it does start with the parents. The more they read to their kids and become involved in educating them, the better off they will be. If a parent doesn't see the value of reading or in education, how can they expect their children to do so?

Of course there are bad teachers in some schools, but they are only part of the problem.
