AMERICAblog News: Anti-govt anti-Obama nuts launch Facebook page to honor domestic terrorist who crashed plane into IRS office

One of the first things I saw this morning was a story on Tomcat's Politics Plus blog about some anti-Obama whack jobs who started a FACEBOOK page dedicated to Joseph Stack, the man who deliberately crashed his plane into a building that contained an IRS office in Austin, TX. A man believed to be Vernon Hunter, 67 years of age, was killed in the fiery crash, and two others were seriously injured.

After seeing that a group that allegedly numbering 300 people banded together to form a FACEBOOK group (since deleted) honoring a man who murdered an unsuspecting senior citizen and sent two more people to the hospital, I was outraged. But after calming down a bit I came to the realization that there are some out there in cyberspace who were even crazier than Joseph Stack; those who sought to turn him into an anti-government icon.

And after FACEBOOK deleted their page, some of these clowns started whining about their "right to freedom of speech" being violated. How about Vernon Hunter's right to see his 68th birthday and beyond? How about the lives of innocent people going to their jobs in that building that were not even related to the IRS? Or the lives of the average citizens who could have been in the IRS offices to pick up tax forms or to ask a question?

Some of these anti-government, anti-IRS, anti-Obama types couldn't understand the US Constitution if you gave them a coloring book version.

They've just condoned murder and domestic terrorism. Disgusting.....and shameless.

so, this facebook group was honoring the murderer, they said it was Obamas fault?

One conservative blogger I know of, a young male who despises Obama, calls himself a domestic terrorist on his blog! These jokers are morons but call themselves patriots!

Sue- one of the biggest beefs I have with some of these people on the extreme right is their penchant for wrapping themselves in the American flag and declaring to the world that "they are patriots".

I'm a person who's been a pretty law abiding citizen for most of my 50+ years of life. And I also look at these self described "super patriots" through the eyes of a man who served close to five years active duty in the Air Force, a couple of years in which were during wartime.

I say this to people who feel the NEED TO DEFINE THEMSELVES as being patriots....its NOT your call. Its up to others to define you as a patriot or not. For all too many, as Samuel Johnson told Boswell in 1775, "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"....meaning there's alot of phony patriots among us, and just as many scoundrels.

Whatever happened to humility? Or to a sense of duty? Many in my Dad's generation, the Greatest Generation, never expected anything after their service in World War II.....they had a job to do, and they did it.

Pats on the back were optional.

All too many of these self defined patriots have never worn a uniform, never been separated from their families or loved ones for years at a time, or never had to sacrifice any aspect of their lives in meaningful service to this country.

But they do know how to leave the hard and dirty work to others...and they sure as hell know how to whine on cue.

this young guy I spoke about was in the Marines for 4 years and says he's a lifetime Marine. That gives him the right to act like this country is HIS and it has been taken over by a socialist president and he wants it back! So, he is a self-proclaimed patriot and terrorist and brags that he will do ANYTHING including revolution to remove Obama. The guy is a wacko and not any different from these young punks who spent a few years in the service. They think it makes them knowledgeable, patriotic, American heros! Give me a friggin break! They are exploding with hate and anger. Where do they get it from? Parents, Fox news? These morons who say Obama took away their freedoms, what freedoms has he taken away?? They can't answer that!! I shoulda done a ranting post, LOL!

Sue- very simply; the guy you're talking about is a victim of "Captain Ahab Syndrome". As in MOBY DICK, the pursuer becomes more dangerous and monstrous than the beast he's trying to kill.

Just one more thing, and I'll promise to move on....why is it that everytime we criticize the usual wingnuts we get people who start following us on TWITTER from SUPER PATRIOT CENTRAL- to monitor our "movements, or to be added to a potential "enemies list"?

A while ago I had some right winger who looked like he was cast in PRISON BREAK who felt it necessary to follow my tweets. I thought haircuts like his died when CURLY HOWARD did.

I don't know. I don't tweet or use labels on my posts, and I changed my settings so my new posts don't show up on Google for the whole world to see. It's scarey out there!

Thanks for the linkage, Hugh, although I regret the occasion for it. I could not feel more dismayed that these people (and I use that term loosely) are so driven by hate and lacking in empathy. Shameful barely describes it.
