Rep. Joe Wilson (R. SC)- THAT WAS DISGRACEFUL

In a matter of seconds a little known conservative congressman from South Carolina has become infamous. Tonight President Barack Obama spoke before a joint session of Congress and to millions of viewers throughout the United States on his vision for health insurance reform in the United States.

Mr Obama laid out his agenda, articulately and in detail about what his reforms would and would not entail. When the President told the audience that these reforms will not be applicable to illegal immigrants, Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina's Second Congressional district, yelled to the President of the United States from his seat on the House floor.....

"YOU LIE!!!".

All eyes fell on Wilson, some of his fellow congressmen told him he went to far.

Wilson gave this apology after the speech was over (from THE HUFFINGTON POST).

"This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President's remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill," he said. "While I disagree with the President's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility." Wilson also called the White House to apologize.

Mr. Wilson.....too late. You may not like a President but you respect the office he holds...and on the floor of our House of Representatives. Joe Wilson, maybe you belong with your friends, the tea baggers, the birthers, the deathers, and the tenthers, and all of those who have reduced the debate over this important issue to a spectacle worthy of the WWE. Some example you show to your constituents, and to the young people of your district, your state, and your nation.

Mr. Wilson will be up for re-election in 2010. One of the challengers for his seat is a young former Marine named Rob Miller. You can find Miller on TWITTER at RobMillerUSMC. His website is robmillerforcongress.com (be patient- his site has been crashing ever since Wilson started yelling at the President).

I don't know much about Rob Miller, not about his agenda, not much about his beliefs. And I'm not even from South Carolina. But I do know one thing.

He's not Joe Wilson.

And that's a good thing.

Note- I deliberately embedded the video clip of Wilson yelling "you lie" to President Obama from a conservative YouTube page. Please note the the quote on top of the clip about Wilson "owning" President Obama. This is just another example of the pinhead mentality that's driving the opposition, with the hate and the scare tactics up front and center. Surely Joe Wilson will be mentioned with Sarah Palin as a possible Republican ticket in 2012 after his display of tasteless "idiocracy".
