UCONN and SOONERS Win; The Final Four Is Set.

Two out of four wasn't bad. On Monday I predicted an Iowa State upset over Stanford in the Berkeley Region of the Women's NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight matchup....wrong.

And I picked favorite Maryland to beat Louisville in the Raleigh Region....wrong again.

Last night order was returned to the known universe when the two #1 seeds, UCONN and Oklahoma had wins in the Trenton and Oklahoma City Regions respectively. First, UCONN closed their perfect season with a game that held as much drama as a Harlem Globetrotters exhibition....with rest of the field (in this night the ASU Sun Devils) playing the part of the Washington Generals and going down to defeat, 83-64. To be honest, ASU played well for long stretches, but in the long run it was the Huskies.....and yes, rooting for them is like rooting for the lions vs the Christians in the Coliseum. But give them their due, they truly are a great team.

There I said it...the Rutgers guy came clean.

Across the country in Okalahoma City, the Purdue-Oklahoma matchup was an entertaining game, one where the Boilermakers led at the half, 27-22. but in the end it was Courtney Paris with her 19 points and 13 rebounds, and the great shooting of Danielle Robinson that won it for the Sooners, 74-68.

So its on to St.Louis, and my Final Four Picks.

In one semi final, I'll take Oklahoma over Louisville...and the other Stanford will hand the UCONN Huskies their first loss of the year.

And the winner of Stanford-Oklahoma will be.....Stanford, 2009 National Champions.

Here's what ESPN's Graham Hayes has to say about the upcoming games.

On the mens's side....
Michigan State will upset UCONN in Detroit, North Carolina wins over Villanova....and Michigan State beats North Carolina for the men's national championship.
